With over 40 years experience we consider your current financial situation, any existing arrangements, your future plans and goals and your attitude to investment risk. We listen, discuss your needs and priorities and advise on the best route for you to take.

We offer a choice of payment methods and will discuss this with you at an initial meeting, which is at our expense.

David Winter

David founded David Winter independent financial advisers in 1989 and grew the company from humble beginnings into the successful business it is today.

David took pride in providing a personal service and used his in-depth knowledge of financial markets to provide financial advice for clients.

He fiercly valued his indendence and that this was integral in providing holistic planning for cleints.



Gwyneth Down – Director/Office Manager

 Gwyneth has been Office Manager at David Winter IFA since September 2001, after a successful managerial career with The Halifax. She is also a director of the company, having spent the last 15 years helping to develop and expand the business.

Her focus is on ensuring that clients receive the best possible service to match the high quality of advice that the Independent Financial Advisers provide. That might mean creating or improving processes within the office or dealing directly with both clients and providers to ensure that business is transacted smoothly.

In her spare time, Gwyneth is a keen netballer, as well as pursuing a range of outdoor activities. As a mother of 4 girls and grandmother to another, spare time is limited!

Harry Lomas (CFP™ Chartered MCSI) – Director.

Harry has over 14 years experience as a financial adviser, much of which was acquired while running a financial services business in South Africa.

He is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and has significant experience in managing investments and providing sound financial planning advice for clients.

In 2016 he decided to move to the UK with his family where he joined David Winter Independent Financial Advisers.

“Being a Certified Financial Planner as well a Chartered Wealth Manager enables me to not only give appropriate financial planning advice but also the know-how in managing the underlying investments in a clients portfolio. I believe that every client’s situation is different and I enjoy structuring and implementing a plan tailored to suit that clients specific needs”

When he’s not in the office or visiting historical sites with his wife and 3 sons, he will be found somewhere riding his mountain bike.

Linda Rustell – Administrator

Linda has been working for David Winter for almost 20 years during which there have been many changes, not least of which in technology! She has taken all these changes in her stride and in the last few years she has concentrated on clients’ reviews.

When Linda is away from the office she very much likes to be outside either in her garden or out and about exploring with her husband in their double Kayak.

Charlotte Alderson – Administrator

Charlotte is originally from South Yorkshire and has over 18 years experience as an Administration Assistant . Charlotte has worked for David Winter since 2013.

“It is always a pleasure to come to work, I relish the varied role. David and the team are great to work with”

Outside work I enjoy spending time with my family and my hobbies are baking and gardening.
